January Focus

January 5, 2015 By Talya Tate Boerner 15 Comments

January focus

January is the month to focus on starting projects, new beginnings, planning, cleaning, organizing. It’s a great month to buy a steam mop—yes it is—because Lucy and Annabelle constantly track up the kitchen floor. Since my My One Little Word for 2015 is Focus, I’m focusing on specific January goals.

In January, I plan to focus on my health. For whatever reason, the last three months of 2014 were a bit sickly for me. A constant cough drained my energy. Bronchitis held on for weeks. Now I’m headed back to yoga. My goal is 4-5 times per week. Help me stick to it—ask me if I’ve done my yoga. Please. And I plan to eat more mindfully and drink more water and green tea. And take a multi-vitamin. I’m not very disciplined about taking vitamins.

In January, I plan to focus on our yard. We have a new fence to contain the curious schnauzers. The fence was a Christmas gift to ourselves. Although it will be too cold and wet to plant much of anything, I can dream and read and plan. I want to build a compost too. Maybe behind the garage.

In January, I will focus on editing my manuscript (as soon as I receive it back from my editor). This may be more of a February goal, but my mind is forever thinking about this. I’m editing a few short stories that need attention too.

In January, I will focus on organizing photos. My friend, Beth, shared her photo solution using thislife.com, and I plan to explore it further. My photos are out of control.

What will you focus on in January?

    My focus for January: I plan on de-cluttering this place. I did give a bunch of clothes and toys to Goodwill right before Christmas, feeling pretty good about myself. . Lying in bed last night, I thought of these “special clothes” hanging in a different place from what I wear all the time: two Christmasy tops (I case I get invited to a Christmas party), a very long dress (This went out of style 5 years ago), and a real pretty two-piece dress I might wear again, sometime ( I bought it for Kelsey’s high school graduation; she is in her second year if law school now.). Well, I must get off FB and get to work. Calling Goodwill again. De-Clutter, De-clutter, De-clutter!! AND, all that Coco-Cola “stuff” has got to go. (It seems there was a couple I met one time about 6 years ago who collected that sort of “stuff”. Don’t remember their names, but I have been saving this “stuff” for them). I do plan on riding my bike more this year. I MUST STAY FOCUSED!! By the way, love your new fence.

    First: Tom said “nice fence”. I say “exceptionally nice fence”. You already know my word is patience. I am going to try and be more tolerant, less critical, and more PATIENT! What time is yoga today? 🙂

    Beautiful fence! It sounds like you are on track for the new year. I am focusing on my health as well. I am also going to work on eliminating stress as much as possible.

    Love this, friend! Thanks for sharing the link, as well. Last night was our first family photo-viewing party, and I can’t tell you what a treat it was to hop back and forth between pictures of our girls learning to walk with ease. Photo organization bliss!

    Wishing you well and look forward to seeing your face soon. Must talk gardening. 🙂

    Best wishes for 2015!

    Focus, focus, focus… in January I am going to get my paperwork in order like a real freelancer. Receipts, expenses, contracts, etc… no more piles! 🙂

    I want to begin practicing yoga too, so I hope to find a place to teach me the basics.

    The fence looks great! I can’t wait to see what you plant!

      M.Vidberg, je me dois de vous rappeler qu’en 2012 la France organise un grand évènement qui va nécessiter beaucoup d’énergie, de débat, de rebondissements. Si c’est pas ambitieux de préparer une élection présidentielle hein!C’est vrai que coté JO on est pas très do;ces&#8230uExéllent comme d’hab!

      I like juicy gossip and have been hooked since I was 13. No sense in denying it, but I’m sure I am not the only one who likes to hear it all:) Thanks for making it hae0#n&p823p;
